Electronic equipment

Crazy how many eletronic stuff we decided to carry.

Parts

  • A Windows10 tablet for picture management, travel planning and other admin tasks
  • Smartphones with Dual Sim. With this you can add local cheap Internet Sim cards in non-EU countries
  • Tolino E-book Reader as book replacement
  • Lamps
  • Musikbox JBL Flip 4.
  • Camera (Sony RX100). Picture management with CaptureOne Pro – that works best for me.
  • Bike GPS Garmin Oregon 600 with Openstreetmap maps. I use Velomaps from openmtbmaps.org.
  • Earphones
  • Powerpack, space akkus for the lamps and the Garmin
  • A Solar Panel from GoalZero with 7 Watt. Installed during the day at the back of the bike.
  • All sorts of cables (USB, USB-C, Micro USB, MiniUSB, etc.). USB Card Reader.

Energy

Astrid should have provided most of the energy with her bike. We have installed a Plug device and akku which should be loaded by the hub dynamo. But it stopped working after a while. So we now rely on the solar panel and power sources at the camp sites.

Virtual

Last but not least the virtual tools:

  • a WordPress installation hosted by Serverprofis.de for this blog
  • An Owncloud Server for Contact and calendar sync
  • A cloud storage hosted by Strato for the backup of the pictures. Philipp transfers them to their final destination at the home PC.

To put it in a nut shell: A lot of stuff. However most of it is used and works as intended. Don’t know how people managed their travels 20 years ago.
