Almost Starved in Povo

We rolled over the Oven Pass into South Tyrol and then always along the Adige to the south.

The swimming pool is good for tired muscles.

Although it was the end of the day the lifeguard turned the slide on again especially for this photo.

The heat is killing us. We’re too exhausted to cook and eat, although we could afford that in Italy. Much, much cheaper than in Switzerland.

Our destination today is Trento. We are now completely in the flat valley. The apple orchards are endless. All of Europe seems to be supplied from here. In the absence of campsites, we booked a room. In a bar in Trento we have espresso and cola, and then, the shock that our accommodation is six kilometers and 400 highmeters away. It is early evening and still muggy. What else can we do, we ride.

Up in Povo in the farthest corner we are right. The family is already waiting for us. There is a refreshing shower while the daughter of the house checked to see where there is still something to eat in the village, two kilometers below us.

The landlord gives us a lift. Unfortunately there is nobody in the pizzeria. Due to a lack of guests, it has probably already closed for today. Back to the square, but also the supermarket which was open earlier, has the shutters down. Only the bar, where the locals sit, is still open, but there is nothing to eat there.

The rescue in a side street. Rolf finds a take away pizza. The starvation is averted.

Lucky, we will survive.
Our accommodation in Povo, in the morning after a great breakfast
