Austria – One of the Alp Countries

We passed Germany and entered Austria. Nice bike trails along the rivers opened views of the nature, flora and fauna. On one of the pictures you see the work of a beaver. The beaver cut so many trees. he does that to provide food for his kids. They live in the water and eat the young green leaves of the cutted trees. Impressive.

Rolf, Lennart and I had a lovely stay in Salzburg where Mozart was born. It was a warm day of spring and we heart classic music out of a lot of old buildings. Lennart left us and Salzburg by bus. While we have wanderlust, he got homesick to his friends in Darmstadt.

Today we crossed the main ridge of the alpes, hoping for better weather on the south side.

  1. Glad to hear your report. I’m here in Magalia with Natalie and Oberon. I just read your blog aloud to the family.

In Paradise the ashes from last years fires are being covered with green grasses. A welcome sight! Everywhere are big trucks and workers in safety suits to clear the rubble of the burned homes and cars. The water in Paradise is 30% polluted with benzene and for the few remaining homes undrinkable. Magalia, where Belinda lives the water is cleared to drink. She teaches sixth graders in Paradise just a few minutes from here.

    Weiterhin sichere und gute Fahrt!
