After Vilnius comes Warsaw

…at least in the alphabetical order of capitals worldwide.

Waiting out the rain shower in the bus shelter

After three energy-sapping stages of 370 kilometres whereas 30 kilometers on gravel road, torrential rain and headwinds, we are looking forward to a break in Vilnius. The capital of Lithuania is also known as the city of fifty churches, the majority of them are Catholic. Since the war in 2022, Russian tourists have been absent and the (Catholic) Poles now seem to be in the majority.

300 meters from here is our mini apartment

We are lucky enough to stay in a mini-apartment right in the heart of the city. We do our laundry, cut our hair, paint our nails, eat good Georgian food and walk through the city for a day. On the combined street art and bike shop route put together by Rolf, there are great photo opportunities and a new mirror for the handlebars so that we can avoid the roudis on the roads in good time.

Vilnius: View from the castle

In the hairdresser’s, the bicycle repair store and the Georgian restaurant, we meet interesting, funny and critical young people who live in Vilnius. This makes Vilnius the only capital city where we dare to make a positive judgment about the quality of life.

The road is closed to traffic in the evening. (Vilnius is the capital!)
We like the city

Lithuania leaves no trace and we roll out into Poland.
