This time Italy is our country to go, and we do so. Not Elba, Sicily or South Tyrol. Italy is more diverse and for us a largely white map. After the beautiful Friuli we go to Udine and further on to the Adriatic Sea.
In Palmanova (founded in 1593) we have a coffee rest. The floor plan of the city looks like this in Openstreetmap:
How beautiful are the beaches on the Adriatic sea. The names ‘Bibione’ and ‘Caorle’ remind Astrid of sport club’s activities in the 1970s/80s. That’s not how she imagined it. In front the beaches, promenade, hotels, apartments and campsites follow. Behind that the nature reserve. Everything is still sleepy. It is pre-season.
On our way to Venice we meet Alex, Tourism Manager of Caorle. He convinces us of a detour to this pretty city.
Following the Eurovelo in the direction to Venice 8 it comes to an end here. We wait for the ferryman, meet two funny Salzburg e-bikers who also want to get to Caorle taking the ferry. They are serene and, above all, too lazy to take the detour over land. After half an hour of discussion, aiming for the location, checking the internet, we give up and turn around. The Salzburg guys are still sitting there. They have time until tomorrow when their wives will pick them up by car.
We camp on the lagoon in front of Venice, five kilometers to the ferry pier. From there it goes by boat the next morning to Venice. Unfortunately, Astrid left her identity card on departure. Hopefully this only happens once.
